Bruno Is “Team Bella!” from ‘Twiilight’

Bruno spoke with Rich Clarke from Capital FM in The UK recently, and he revealed that he is a part of Team Bella from the “Twilight” movie franchise.

Be sure to tune in to CaptifalFM at 2PM EST (7pm UK) to listen to the full interview.

The ‘It Will Rain’ star is a big fan of the latest installment of the vampire franchise.

The ‘Lazy Song’ singer, who has recorded a track for the official soundtrack, joked that he would rather support Kristen Stewart’s character over Team Edward and Team Jacob.

“How come I can’t be Team Bella? How come I’ve got to be the werewolf or the glitter guy?” he said.

Bruno then laughed and failed to answer when asked if he thought Bella was a tease.

Speaking to Capital FM’s Rich Clarke, the singer revealed that he had seen 25 minutes of the forthcoming Twilight film.

“I think it’s going to be really cool. The stuff that I saw was very interesting. I was laughing. They shot some cool stuff in some cool locations,” he said.

Bruno has recorded the song ‘It Will Rain’ for the new movie, which premieres in the UK tonight (16th November).

The Robert Pattinson-starring film goes on general release from 18th November.

Listen to Rich Clarke’s full interview with Bruno Mars tonight from 7pm on Capital FM.

Mars: VMA Win Would Be ‘Coolest Thing Ever’

During a recent interview with MTV News, Bruno spoke on his dreams of winning a MTV Video Music Award (particularly for “Best Choreography” for his music video ‘The Lazy Song’). Check out all he had to say about the nomination below.

Bruno Mars’ heartfelt clip for “Grenade” is up for three Moonmen at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards: Video of the Year, Best Male Video and Best Pop Video. He’s obviously very excited by these three nods, but it’s his fourth that really gets “The Lazy Song” singer going.

“You know what I’m excited for? As much as I put blood, sweat and tears into ‘Grenade,’ I’m excited for ‘The Lazy Song,’ Best Choreography,” he dished to MTV News. “That is amazing.”

In the video, Bruno is captured hanging out at home, dancing around his living room and monkeying around with a few, well, monkeys. “I called up my friends the Poreotics [from 'America's Best Dance Crew'] and we shot this and choreographed this in one day,” he recalled of the fun video. “And I think that would be the coolest thing ever if I went home and saw a Moonman that said: Best Choreography, Bruno Mars, ‘The Lazy Song.’ ”

As silly and ironic as it seems for the singer to win the award for that track, he did put a lot of the same “blood, sweat and tears” into it as he did for “Grenade.” “We worked really hard on it, and we wanted to give people something to laugh at and show personality in the song and what we’re talking about,” he said. ” ‘The Lazy Song’ is not necessarily the song you want to hear in the club, but we put our monkey dance to it.”

Bruno Covers Billboard’s 50th Anniversary Issue

WOW! What an amazing accomplishment Bruno has made once again! Today, his cover for Billboard Magazine’s special 50th anniversary issue was unveiled and with it comes a new interview in which he speaks on becoming one of the biggest names in music history, fame, and things in his past.

Bruno took to his official Twitter page to express his happiness about everything and here’s what he said:

@Billboarddotcom I’ve always wanted to see my songs in the pages of your magazine… But the Cover?? WOW! Im so honored. Thank you Billboard

Check out some excerpts from the interview below & the full-size cover in the gallery.

“It’s a rare thing that happens,” he says, a packet of cigarettes and a smartphone resting by his feet, “especially in this day, where it’s real hard to sell albums. I’m traveling to places that I’ve never even heard of and there are all these people singing the songs back — and English is not even their first language. It’s like, what the hell happened?” The answer is simple: Music fans the world over have fallen in love with Bruno Mars.

“The great thing about Bruno is that you can’t put him in a box. That’s why I think people are so attracted to him and his music,” Atlantic Records chairman/COO Julie Greenwald says. “You can put him with any type of artist from any genre and it will be beautiful. He understands music.” To understand the roots of Mars’ musical education one must go back to the late ’80s when he made his onstage debut, at age 4, impersonating Elvis Presley in his parents’ 1950s-style revue on Honolulu’s Waikiki Beach. “That was it,” Mars says. “I was Elvis.”

“I’m just a mixed-up dude,” he says when asked about his genre-crossing versatility. “I want to work with the Kanyes, the Jay-Zs… a Rihanna, a Gaga, Kings of Leon, Mumford & Sons. I want to do all those things. As proud as I am of “Doo-Wops,” I feel like, ‘Oh, man. People haven’t seen nothing. They don’t even know what I’m about to do,’ and that’s what I can’t wait to show the world.”

Forbes.com “MARS ATTACKS” – Interview

Bruno is featured on Forbes.com with an all-new article & interview. Forbes spoke to Bruno about his global success as well as his big break in the music industry.

Last summer Bruno Mars teamed up with Travie McCoy to release the song “Billionaire,” a feel-good frolic about ten-figure fortunes and landing on the cover of FORBES. It was an unexpected hit, selling 2 million singles in two months and lending an unusual influx of cool to business journalism.

“I was tired of spending half my day worrying about what I can and can’t spend on whatever,” he says, explaining the song’s origins poolside in Hollywood Hills. “I wouldn’t have to worry about, you know, ‘I can’t afford to get breakfast, so I’ll wait until lunchtime to eat.’ If I was a billionaire, none of that would matter. I’d be eating diamond cereal.”

His teeth are still intact, but he is inching closer to our cover. Since breaking through in 2009 by co-writing and singing the hook on B.o.B’s song “Nothin’ on You,” he’s had a hand in five number one singles and his solo debut, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, has sold 2.5 million albums and 15 million singles worldwide. FORBES estimates that Mars pulled in $8 million over the past 12 months–enough to make him a strong candidate for The Celebrity 100 someday soon.

SPIN Mag Interviews Bruno & Janelle

From Spin: Earlier this month, at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom, we caught up with chart-topping heartthrob Bruno Mars and cult cosmonaut Janelle Monáe as they kicked off their 24-date Hooligans In Wondaland tour.

For a pair of blossoming stars in their early-20s, their two performances couldn’t have been any more different — Monáe and her band approximating a frenetic retrofuture mosh pit and Mars passionately strumming a guitar in the key of screeching girls. But both artists share a deep bond as friends and pop vanguards blurring the lines between liquid R&B, blustery rock, and vintage soul. SPIN chatted with the pair backstage and found out what they joke about, why their Grammy performance almost fell apart, and what living legend was seen sneaking around the show.

SPIN: You closed the first show of the tour. Congrats! What were you nervous about?

BRUNO MARS: Well, this was also the first show where we had production values. With lights and everything. We just wanted to make sure the cues were on.

JANELLE MONÁE: I don’t really get nervous once I’m on the stage. I knew Mick Jagger was here… I met him at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Gala. [Vogue editor] Anna Wintour introduced me to him. I told him I was performing and he said, “I wanna come. Gimme four tickets. I love you.” That was cool.

SPIN: When was the last time you two really hung out? As friends?

MARS: We hung out all day today, actually! We’re always picking at each other. She’s always commentating on me. She said, “Bruno, man, ever since I started tweeting about you, all your fans have been coming at me saying, “You’re so lucky to hang out with Bruno.”

MONÁE: He laughs, I love laughing; he jokes, I love teasing. He’s like a little brother. Everyone wants us to see us date. It’s so funny.

SPIN: Who wants to see you two date?

MONÁE: Name it.

What do you two bond over besides music?

MARS: I love wearing her dresses every now and then [laughs].

Bruno Mars Visits Bantay Bata Kids

During his trip to The Philippines, Bruno took time out of his very busy schedule to visit kids at Bantay Bata. In addition to this, he performed a sold-out concert for thousands of fans.

ABC News caught up with Bruno’s lovely mother, Bernadette Hernandez spoke with them about how proud & happy she is for her son.

This is truly a great interview which you can view right here.

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-American pop singer Bruno Mars is surely having a grand time here in the Philippines.

On Thursday, Mars performed to a sold-out crowd at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu.

He was obviously surprised when his Filipina mom showed up at the event.

Mars’ mom Bernadette Hernandez said she is very proud of her son because he still has a heart of a Filipino and he never forgets to look back to where his family came from.

“We’re a very close Filipino family, and that’s what I want my kids to carry on to the next generation,” his mom said.

She said she is delighted that her son was able to visit the country.

“I wish I could go to every concert ’cause he’s been travelling the world and it’s amazing, you know. He’s seen a lot of places he’d never seen before, and I’m glad he got to see where I came from,” she said.

Mars’ mom confessed she never thought her son would make it this big.

“Of course every mother feels their son is the best. I always thought that. But to see people and hear other people say that to me, I’m so proud,” she said.

Meanwhile, Jamie Bayot, the elder sister of Mars, revealed that her brother continues to be a humble and grounded person despite his popularity.

“Everybody recognizes him, but he still has the same heart, you know. He’s still funny,” she said.

As a proof to this, Mars remained low key as he went out of his way to visit the children of Bantay Bata 163 on Friday.

The children performed a number of songs for the Grammy Award winner and he willingly joined them in singing.

Mars vows that this will definitely not be the last time that he will visit the country because of the warm welcome the Filipinos have showed him.

He also said that for his Filipino fans, he will strive to do better.

On Friday night, Mars is set to hold another sold-out concert at the Araneta Coliseum.

As of posting, a number of popular personalities have already arrived at the Big Dome to witness Mars perform

Phil Star Interview: The Singer From Mars
Posted by Admin on April 7, 2011 - Post a comment

During Bruno’s promotion in The Philipines, he did an interview with Phil Star – where he spoke about everything from his upbringing to the new album and a lot more. Here is an excerpt from the great chat as well as a few pictures. Check them out Hooligans!

Tell me the background of Just The Way You Are.
“Hmmmm…the inspiration of that song…You know, I have four sisters, I’m the middle child, and I tell you, everybody is insecure, even the most beautiful woman in the world is insecure about something. I remember watching a girlfriend get ready to go out to dinner and I could see all the works she put in just to make herself feel beautiful and sexy when she already thought she looked great with what she was wearing. And, you know, the song is telling her that ‘I love you already. You look beautiful just the way you are’.”

Did you have a particular girl when you wrote the song?
“I think it’s from, you know, just dealing with a bunch of different women in my life…” Oh, a bunch of women? That’s a lot!
(Blushing and laughing) “Hmmmm, you know. I just told you that I have four sisters.”

How was it growing up with four sisters? Were you spoiled by your sisters?
“Well, it’s different, you know. It’s great! I love my sisters.”

Do you feel protective towards your sisters?
“Definitely! Not just protective; I’m over-protective. You can’t help feeling that way because you have to deal with new boyfriends and stuff like that. That’s the hard part about being an only brother.”

From whom do you draw inspiration for your songs?
“Ahhh, you know, it’s a different story every time. As a songwriter, you have to be a storyteller. When you write a story, you know, how do you make it interesting? So I find my inspiration from things that have been through my life, where I’m going, where I wanna be — you know, to be a billionaire. Hmmmm, that would be my ‘wish’ record. One day, I don’t want to worry about money and be able to take care of the ones I love, just the way you are, dealing with heartbreak and things like that.”

Your looks are very Filipino. What else is Filipino about you…your upbringing maybe?
“My mom is from Manila. I grew up with my mom’s side, a big Filipino family. So I grew up on Filipino food.”
