Bruno Mars called into Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS FM radio station to discuss his brand new single and music video for “It Will Rain”, which is still being worked on.
He also spoke on the writing process of the single, where he states that seeing some of the movie’s most powerful scenes helped him to finish writing. Check out the interview & article below:
Bruno Mars has revealed that watching scenes from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 inspired him to finish writing ‘It Will Rain’.
Mars called into Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS FM radio program to discuss ‘It Will Rain’, which will appear on Breaking Dawn’s soundtrack.
The singer hinted that ‘It Will Rain’ might also feature in one of the movie’s most pivotal scenes.
Mars said: “I started writing ['It Will Rain'] a little bit on tour. I was just writing to write. I had my guitar with me on tour when I was in the States. I never finished it.
“The opportunity came up to go see some scenes in Breaking Dawn. When I saw a couple of the scenes I was like ‘That song I started might be perfect for this’… I’ve seen a couple of things. I might have seen them get married.”
The music video for ‘It Will Rain’ was to premiere in late October, but the clip’s debut was later pushed back.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, which also features tracks by Christina Perri and Iron & Wine, is now available in the UK and is released on Tuesday (November in the US.
Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is released in cinemas worldwide from November 18.
WOW! And the great news for Bruno Mars keeps rolling in! After being named one of Time Magazine’s “Top 100 Influential People”, Bruno’s debut album “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” has been certified PLATINUM! The album is now a true worldwide smash! Congrats Bruno!
Bruno Mars is a worldwide hit. His 2010 debut Doo-Wops & Hooligans has been certified platinum in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and other countries, with additional gold certification in international terrains including Korea, Belgium, France, and Indonesia.
The singer-songwriter, who has sold 14 million singles worldwide, was recently named one of TIME magazine’s most influential people in the world alongside President Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Justin Bieber, and more. To celebrate his achievement, he will perform with fellow honoree Sting at New York City’s Jazz at Lincoln Center on April 26.
The gig comes in anticipation of his “Hooligans in Wondaland” tour with Janelle Monáe, kicking off at New York’s Roseland Ballroom on May 4.
Great news, Hooligans! Bruno has chosen “The Lazy Song” as his next single which is going to adds on February 15th. This is one of my favorites from the album – what are YOUR thoughts? Take a listen below:
Congratulations, Bruno!!! “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” debuted at NO.1 on the UK album charts – at the same time that the new single “Grenade” is NO.1 on the singles chart! This is beyond amazing & we are so proud of Bruno right now.
US singer Bruno Mars has scored a double chart success, with number ones in both the singles and album charts.
His single Grenade held on to the number one spot for a second week and his album Doo-Wops and Hooligans went straight into the top spot after selling 86,000 copies.
Grenade held off Adele’s new single Rolling In The Deep – from her new album 21 – which entered at two.
Grenade is Mars’s second number one single after Just The Way You Are.
The song is still in the top 20 at number at 18.
The trio behind the song were last week named by Music Week magazine as the most successful songwriters in the UK chart in 2010.
The Smeezingtons – Mars, Ari Levine and Philip Lawrence – also co-wrote Grenade.
WOW!!!! Bruno Mars has set another amazing record for himself! His new single “Grenade” has become the third biggest-selling digital single of all time! During the week of Christmas, the single sold over 550,000 copies!!!! Simply amazing!
Flo Rida and Ke$ha may have felt the breath of 2010′s top new artist on the back of their necks last week. Bruno Mars racked up an impressive total of 559,000 digital copies sold of the song “Grenade” during Christmas week. That makes it the biggest sales week for any song in 2010 and the third highest ever. Flo Rida’s “Right Round” remains first with a sales total of 636,000 in one week while Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” sold 610,000 in its peak week.
“Grenade” sets another impressive mark for Bruno Mars. He becomes only the sixth solo male artist to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his first two releases as lead performer. This puts him in the company of Andy Gibb, Lionel Richie, Peter Cetera, Rick Astley, and Diddy. This is the first time the achievement has occurred in 13 years. Also, Andy Gibb, Lionel Richie and Peter Cetera all had been part of successful groups before going solo or, in Andy Gibb’s case, having tight connections with his brothers the Bee Gees. The future does indeed look bright for Bruno Mars.

WOW! Today is a great day folks! Mr. Bruno Mars officially has the NO.1 Single in the country on the Billboard Hot 100 charts with his single “Just The Way You Are” (Billboard). We are so incredibly proud of him!
Bruno Mars will become the third male artist this year to take his first charting single as a lead artist to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, as “Just the Way You Are” will top the list to be released in full on Billboard.com tomorrow morning (Sept. 23).
Also hitting No. 1 in 2010 with their debut solo releases were Taio Cruz with “Break Your Heart” (March) and B.o.B’s “Nothin’ On You” (May), with Mars providing featured vocals on the latter title.
Mars holds off a strong charge by Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In the World),” which shoots 75-3 while debuting at No. 1 on Digital Songs with 249,000 first-week downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” drops 1-2 on Digital Songs with 194,000 (down 7%).
“Only Girl” is Rihanna’s eighth No. 1 on Digital Songs and her sixth to debut at the top, the most in each category by any artist since the chart launched in 2005. Recent recording partner Eminem ranks second for most overall No. 1s on Digital Songs in that span with six. The pair’s “Love the Way You Lie,” meanwhile, holds at No. 2 on the Hot 100.
On the Radio Songs tally, Mars moves 6-5 and has the chart’s largest airplay gain with a jump of 18.9 million listener impressions to 110.2 million, according to Nielsen BDS. Rihanna also posts a significant increase of 12.6 million impressions, jumping 42-18 on Radio Songs.
Mars’ track supplants Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” (1-4) on the Hot 100, ending the title’s two-week reign. “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love,” by Usher featuring Pitbull, returns to its peak ranking (6-5), while Taio Cruz slips 4-6 with “Dynamite.” Also falling two slots is “I Like It,” by Enrique Iglesias featuring Pitbull.

Great news, great news folks!!!!! MTV.com has confirmed with Bruno himself that the album “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” is now 100% done and ready for release! The Hawaii-born Mars also found time to finish his forthcoming debut album, tentatively titled Doo-Wops & Hooligans.
The project is “100 percent” done, the “Nothin’ on You” singer told MTV News, adding that the set is influenced by his live performances.
“Every time we go into the studio we got to think about, ‘OK, we’re gonna perform this song.’ We think, ‘How are we gonna keep these people’s attention?’ ” he explained. “So throughout the whole song, it never stops. It keeps moving. And we always flip up our show. Whenever we do our shows, you might not hear the album version. You’ll get the live version.”
“The journey wasn’t short at all — it was trial and error and trial and error,” he said. “It was just back and forth, man. But once ‘Nothin’ on You’ blew up, I had these songs in my back pocket, and the label thought it’d be a good time to give people a little taste of what they’re gonna get with the album. The EP came together real nice; you’re gonna get a nice effect of what’s in store.”
