Nice! Bruno’s debut single “Just The Way You Are” has become the longest single at NO.1 on the Billboard charts ever! After 50 years of singles, Bruno’s song has been #1 the longerst. Be sure to tweet Bruno with massive congrats!
No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” becomes the longest-reigning debut single in the list’s almost 50-year history.
The song beats the career-opening commands of Colbie Caillat’s “Bubbly” (2008) and Daniel Powter’s “Bad Day” (2006), each of which spent 19 weeks at No. 1.
“Way” marks Mars’ debut song as a lead artist and his first to reach the AC chart. He previously charted on the Billboard Hot 100 as a featured vocalist on B.o.B’s “Nothin’ on You” (No. 1, two weeks) and Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire” (No. 4) last year.
What has helped fuel the AC domination of “Way?” Before it reached the chart’s summit the week of February 5, the track led Hot 100 Airplay (seven weeks), Adult Top 40 (five), the Hot 100 (four), Mainstream Top 40 (three) and Hot Digital Songs (two).
Mars’ debut album, “Doo-Wops & Hooligans,” bowed on the Billboard 200 at No. 3 the week of October 23, 2010, and has spent its first 36 weeks in the chart’s top 40. The set has sold 1.1 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Check out this article that Artist Direct just wrote up about Bruno & his success.
“Grenade” is also set to top the UK singles chart this week – passing Rihanna!
“I’m kinda the best right now. I don’t know what else to say…” Bruno Mars may have been joking with us back in June 2010 when we first interviewed him, but make no mistake, this smooth singer can hold his own as his new single “Grenade,” is, well, erm, blowing up, and topping the Ultimate Chart this week.
Bruno knows all the right people, too, so it makes sense that success would find him. His first single, “The Other Side,” features appearances by B.o.B and Cee-Lo Green, and Damian Marley joins Bruno on the track “Liquor Store Blues” from the debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, which has just passed Gold sales status (500,000) in the U.S. The Hawaiian-born singer and producer, son of a Latin percussionist from Brooklyn, has also worked with Travie McCoy on “Billionaire,” from Travie’s Lazarus.
Bruno, you just might be the best right now…
WOW!!!! Bruno Mars has set another amazing record for himself! His new single “Grenade” has become the third biggest-selling digital single of all time! During the week of Christmas, the single sold over 550,000 copies!!!! Simply amazing!
Flo Rida and Ke$ha may have felt the breath of 2010′s top new artist on the back of their necks last week. Bruno Mars racked up an impressive total of 559,000 digital copies sold of the song “Grenade” during Christmas week. That makes it the biggest sales week for any song in 2010 and the third highest ever. Flo Rida’s “Right Round” remains first with a sales total of 636,000 in one week while Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” sold 610,000 in its peak week.
“Grenade” sets another impressive mark for Bruno Mars. He becomes only the sixth solo male artist to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his first two releases as lead performer. This puts him in the company of Andy Gibb, Lionel Richie, Peter Cetera, Rick Astley, and Diddy. This is the first time the achievement has occurred in 13 years. Also, Andy Gibb, Lionel Richie and Peter Cetera all had been part of successful groups before going solo or, in Andy Gibb’s case, having tight connections with his brothers the Bee Gees. The future does indeed look bright for Bruno Mars.

“Grenade” shifts a near-record 559,000 downloads (up 212,000, the chart’s best digital gain of the week), according to Nielsen SoundScan, as the unwrapping of MP3 players and the traditional post-Christmas gift card redemption surge results in a 108% increase in overall download sales for the week. Mars’ new track tops the Digital Songs chart, a rung above Perry’s “Firework,” which moves 509,000 (up 165%). Those sums move “Grenade” and “Firework” into the Nos. 3 and 4 slots among the biggest single-week sales frames behind Flo Rida’s “Right Round” (636,000) on the chart dated Feb 28. 2009, and Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK,” which sold 610,000 exactly a year ago this week.
In addition to the Digital Gainer award, Mars’ “Grenade” also takes the Airplay Gainer award, improving to 89 million listener impressions (up 12%), according to Nielsen BDS, and jumping 9-6 on Radio Songs.
